Principles

This Terms of Use:

  • Does not override CC BY-SA,
  • Avoids “we own everything” attitude,
  • Clarifies content rights and platform rights,
  • Is readable by non-lawyers.

Terms

  1. Acceptance: By accessing or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
  2. Content License: User-contributed content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) (the “Content License”). All other materials are governed by their respective licenses.
  3. Your rights: These Terms do not restrict your rights under the Content License, including downstream reuse.
  4. User accounts: You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for complying with applicable laws. You may not impersonate others.
  5. User-contributed content:
    1. Content license: By submitting content, you represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights to license it under the Content License.
    2. Additional license to the platform: In addition to the Content License, you grant the platform a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, format, analyze, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating, improving, and providing the service.
  6. Attribution: Attribution requirements under the Content License are satisfied by:
    1. a link to the relevant page or resource on the platform, and
    2. preservation of author usernames and revision history where available.
  7. Acceptable use: Moderation decisions are made at the platform’s discretion, acting in good faith. You agree not to:
    1. submit unlawful content,
    2. infringe intellectual property rights,
    3. intentionally damage, disrupt, or misrepresent content or platform functionality,
    4. interfere with platform operation,
    5. engage in abusive, malicious, or deceptive behavior. This includes vandalism, spam, and deliberate attempts to degrade content quality or availability.
  8. Termination: The platform may remove content, revert edits, restrict editing, suspend, or permanently terminate access for violations of these Terms.
  9. Automated access, scraping, and AI use: Automated access, including scraping or crawling, may be restricted or rate-limited to protect platform availability. Use of automated tools, including AI systems, to access the platform may be restricted under these Terms. These restrictions apply to methods of access and do not limit rights granted for content lawfully obtained.
  10. Platform software and third-party materials: The platform uses MediaWiki and related extensions, skins, templates, and modules. Platform software and configuration are protected by applicable copyright and open-source licenses. Third-party components are provided under their respective licenses. Use, attribution, and reuse must comply with their applicable terms.
  11. Disclaimer: To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.
  12. Limitation of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
  13. Changes to Terms: Material changes will be communicated. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
  14. Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction.
